Denver Realtor Steve Travers gets in his water skiing
Steve Travers has a bit of a problem. Most of us wouldn’t consider it a problem, but he does. He needs to be able to get a couple friends or children out of bed so he can go water skiing at 7 a.m.
Being an avid water skier, Steve lives on a Denver lake specially designed for skiing. The 11-acre lake becons early in the morning and at night. The trick is to convince his wife, and his 17-year-old son or his 21- or 24-year-old daughter to help Dad out. They all love skiing, but they also like to sleep in.
Skiing twice-a-day can last from late April to the end of October. It’s one of the many advantages, he believes, of living in Colorado.
Steve’s been water skiing since age 5. He summered on Lake Winnipesaukee, the New Hampshire lake where the movie, On Golden Pond, was filmed. Those summers were very much about skiing competitions and water ski shows.
Steve does a lot of slaloming, but he also likes hydrofoil skiing This is done on a device more elaborate than a slalom ski. The hydrafoil ski can be used for tricks and jumping.
Now that he’s older, Steve finds the Denver area a great place for enjoying his passion. In May, Steve and the family snow skied in the morning and came home and water skied later that day.
Steve doesn’t limit himself. He also skis at a lake at Fort Collins, where he and friends have a campsite. If that’s not enough, Steve has a time share houseboat on Lake Powell, where he also utilizes his boat and skis.
