Steve Osmar is a man on the go. Father of 4 children, he and his wife have supported 3 through college at Michigan State University. Go Green! Steve’s youngest daughter was a Spartan cheerleader for 3 of her college years. His oldest daughter earned her degree in a double major of construction management and urban planning. At this time she is using her education to work with her dad in the real estate business. Steve’s wife is an educator working as a media specialist and librarian in a school district in the greater Lansing area.

Being a community minded individual, Steve has volunteered his time to “Christmas In April.” This organization does repairs and renovations for low income home owners. From painting to structural repairs, the gifts of time and talent are offered to those in need. A regular Red Cross blood donor, Steve has contributed nearly 3 gallons over the last few years.

Steve is a distance runner. Through the RE/MAX office he has participated, along with some of his colleagues, in marathon relays. Often these races are fundraisers for various charities. Steve, however, runs several races on his own, along with a regular running schedule to “keep in shape.”

All of the running does prepare him for a new venture that he has undertaken, mountain hiking. Introduced to it by a friend, he has been making trips to Colorado for the past 5 years. He has hiked with various groups of friends, and this year he invited his 2 brothers to join him.

Afforded a rustic mountain cabin by a relative, these 3 guys hiked a few of the peaks known as “fourteeners.” These are peaks that are over 14,000 feet in elevation. There are about 50 of them in Colorado, some extremely challenging and would be considered “technical” climbs. Steve’s not quite at that level yet, but you’d never know. He enjoys it immensely and was happy for the opportunity to have some bonding time with his brothers.

It shouldn’t be any surprise that Steve is a big Michigan State University fan. He holds season tickets to both MSU football and men’s basketball. Seasonal fun for both family and friends.
