Knoxville, TN Real Estate Agent, Don Canter Loves “Volunteers!”

I have made an observation about the citizenry of Tennessee and sports:  They take them very seriously!  I say that based on an experience I had traveling to Atlanta from my home in Michigan sometime in the 1980’s.  My family and I stopped somewhere near Knoxville, Tennessee, right off of I-75.  I walked into a large grocery store to pick up a few items for our children and realized that instead of hearing Musak (you remember that piped-in “elevator music”), I was listening to the play-by-play radio broadcast of a University of Tennessee football game.  That was a first for me and I’ve never heard anything like it since, and I live in a Big 10 town.  It came as no surprise to me that Don Canter is cut from the same sport’s cloth as so many other Tennesseans.

Don CanterDon and his wife are huge fans of the University of Tennessee’s men’s basketball team and have been for many years.  Season ticket holders, Don was a close friend to former coach Ray Mears.  Mears coached the Volunteers from 1963-1977 and Don often accompanied Mears to away games.  Coach Mears passed away last year and his widow gave Don a very heartwarming gift.  Her husband had been known for wearing a bright orange sportcoat to games, and she gave that coat to Don.   To honor Coach Mears, Don now wears it to 2 specific games against Tennessee’s top rivals Kentucky and Vanderbilt.

Don is very fond of music and loves to sing.  He does have a claim to fame as a recording artist.  He is the author and performer of a record titled: The Battle Song - Tricky Dickey.  No, it’s not a tune about Nixon.  It’s about a former Volunteer football coach who, prior to a bowl game against the Univ. of Florida, had agreed to become the Gator’s new head football coach.  There were many Volunteer fans who thought that the loss Tennessee suffered at that game was somehow tied to Coach Dickey’s new allegiance to Florida.  The record was quite popular on radio stations in the Knoxville area.

Don is a native of east Tennessee.  He and his wife have 2 married children and 3 grandchildren.  Don’s career prior to real estate was in banking.  He served as a bank examiner and president of the First National Bank of Loudon, TN.  Some of his work dealt with real estate appraisals and loans.  His gravitation toward becoming a real estate agent seemed a natural one.  Now with over 31 years of experience as a Realtor, Don has distinguished himself as a consistent top producer, receiving recognition both locally and internationally.

Whether you’re a buyer or a seller Don Canter wants to serve your real estate needs in the Knoxville area.  If you would like to know more about Don as a real estate professional click on Connect2Agent.com or call him directly at (800) 231-0996, Ext. 1980.  And remember you’re entering “Big Orange Country!”
